Dominic Redfern is a video artist working across installation, single-channel and performance modes of practice. Over the last few years he has been working primarily with his own image in a series of fractured narrative projects. During the last 12 months, whilst continuing to exhibit locally and interstate, Dominic’s work has been shown at the Art Institute of Chicago, Sparwasser HQ and Hamburger Bahnof in Berlin; Kunstnernes Hus, Olso; Norwich Gallery, Great Britain; Platform, Istanbul,Turkey; and as part of the All Seasons Festival in Bangkok. In addition he has travelled to Seoul to take part in ‘Parallel’, an exchange project involving young Korean and Australian artists, and spent November ’03 to February ’04 as an artist in residence at the 18th Street Arts Complex in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. Dominic was on the committee of the West Space Artist-run Organization between 2000-2004 and does committee work for Gertrude Street Contemporary Art Spaces and Arts Victoria. Dominic lectures in Video Art and is the Undergraduate Program Co-ordinator for the School of Art and Culture at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
